Minister of State for International Development,
UK during his recent visit to Nepal visited Bhojpur
district on 27 May 2010. The Minister was accompanied
by DFID Nepal head of office and other high ranking
officials working for DFID Nepal. The minister
during his field visit in Bhojpur also visited
first 1 km section of Bhojpur – Ghodetar district
road (BG2) and interacted with members of Road
Building Groups engaged in RAP road construction.

team briefed on livelihood improvement and construction
related activities, including activities accomplished
during RAP1 implementation in the district. At
the end of the visit , the Minister said, “DFID
is got a very very successful rural road building
programme here which is connecting many many thousands
people to communication, which they never before
enjoyed. They used to have to track for miles
on foot. Now they got road which actually connect
them to help and also prosperity. New business,
some new trading opportunities are already being
up. Also cost of foods, which they live is probably
now reduced by one-third”.
The Chief
District Officer, Local Development Officer, other
officials of DFID assisted projects and local
people received and welcomed the Minister and
other members of the visiting team at Bhojpur.
