Supplementary infrastructure managed by the District Development Committees (DDCs)

Objective
The supplementary infrastructure component of RAP2 was introduced with the idea that the DDCs do the planning, programming, procurement and implementation for a variety of community infrastructures, ranging from social and market facilities, school infrastructure, micro-irrigation, link trails, trail bridges and rural water supply and sanitation; they do not have to be transport related. With DDC managing this component, and DFID contributing 100% to the costs via RAP, it is the role of RAP to monitor the systems used by the DDC and to know that good governance principles are being applied.

Sub-agreements for both Supplementary Infrastructure and Maintenance have been signed between RAP and the DDCs from all seven districts, and also co-signed by the RAP Coordinator from Department of Local Infrastructure Development and Agriculture Road (DoLIDAR). The agreements detail the procedures and preparation needed by the DDCs to receive funds from RAP for these activities.

Each RAP2 working district has allocated NRs 14 million for the supplementary infrastructure selected from the following different types of sub projects with selection and funding criteria as:
